Everything you need to know

The details.

The Dune Cup kicks off and wraps up in Muscat. You'll head South-West in a vaguely clockwise direction, hitting checkpoints to ensure you catch all the breathtaking spots — and to keep you from wandering into Saudi Arabia.
Not a race. An adventure-driven, challenge-based competition. Challenges include reaching the highest dune with your vehicle, driving the farthest south, or spotting the largest giant turtle. Full challenge list revealed only at the launch event.
Your normal driving licence will do for Oman.
Yes — Oman is an increasingly popular and safe tourist destination with no threats to tourists. Just be sure not to step over into Yemen.
Absolutely — mandatory. You need coverage for renting and driving a vehicle in Oman. We recommend Europ Assistance, around €100 per person.
Generally no visa required for stays under 12 days. Requirements vary by country of origin, so check in advance.
Yes — genuinely so. You're driving on rough roads in a remote part of the world. This isn't a glorified holiday. By joining, you're taking full responsibility for the risks involved.
